CFO Take: 12 Arab startup deals, $13.75M, and what the mix tells founders
What happened
Rowad Al Aamal's weekly tracker, published on 26 October 2026, counted 12 investment deals announced by startups across the Arab region between 18 and 24 October 2026. Together they exceeded $13.75M, spread across fintech, health tech, proptech, AI and event management.
Saudi Arabia and the UAE led the activity, with deals also in Kuwait, Jordan and Egypt.
The figures, as reported
- 12 deals announced between 18 and 24 October 2026, worth more than $13.75M in total.
- Largest: Saudi embedded-finance startup Fertx, a $3.6M pre-seed round.
- UAE health tech Nabta Health: a $3M pre-Series A round (second close; the amount invested in this close was not disclosed). UAE's Vitalls: $1.5M committed from EST Groomore in a seed round.
- Saudi proptech Ghanim: $1.5M added to its pre-seed, taking the round to $8.6M. Saudi event platform INVE: $300K pre-seed from Outliers VC.
- UAE's Popcorn AI Studio and CapQuest raised $1M each in pre-seed; Ayan raised $600K. Kuwait's Thiqa raised more than $550K; Jordan's Databuddy raised $500K from Y Combinator.
- In Egypt, a 10% stake in Aqar Exit was bought for EGP 10M (about $200K), implying a valuation of about $2M. Tactful AI's extension did not disclose an amount.

The CFO reading
By my count, nine of the eleven deals with a disclosed value were $1.5M or less. The money in this market is going into pre-seed and seed cheques, not big growth rounds. Two of the headline numbers are also round sizes, not cash received that week, and the article itself warns you to separate the two.
That is the lesson for your model. A $1M pre-seed is not a multi-year plan. At that size you are funding 12 to 18 months of focused work on one proof point, and investors are paying for evidence, not promises. The Aqar Exit deal shows the other side: a 10% stake for about $200K sets a roughly $2M valuation, so early cheques come with real dilution.
Founders who plan the raise as a cash event, with a runway, a milestone and a dilution number attached, close faster than founders who plan it as a valuation headline.
What to do
- Size your raise from a bottom-up cash forecast: monthly burn times the months needed to hit the next milestone, plus a buffer.
- Define the single proof point the money buys (revenue, retention, a signed pilot) and put a date on it.
- Run your dilution at three valuations before any investor call, so you know your walk-away number.
- If your round has tranches or closes, forecast cash only on money that has actually landed.
- Clean up your monthly reporting now: revenue, burn and runway on one page, ready to send within 48 hours of a request.
